Ƭ Launches The PeppTalk Podcast

Ƭ has launched The PeppTalk Podcast—a conversational talk show dedicated to exploring topics of personal and global significance alongside the institution’s leading faculty and student experts—across all audio streaming platforms. The first season of PeppTalk has explored human relationships in collaboration with the Boone Center for the Family’s Kelly Haer, executive director; and Dee Dee Mayer, senior director of RelateStrong and interim university chaplain.
“We hope that the first season of PeppTalk contextualizes modern day relationships for our listeners, while, at the same time, empowering them to live out healthy relational practices themselves,” says Haer. “With that, we also want these episodes to inspire people’s curiosity and desire to learn more about building intentional relationships.”
Across its 10 episodes, Haer and Mayer join PeppTalk hosts Alexa Borstad, strategic communications specialist, and Coburn Dolloff, executive writer, from Pepperdine’s Integrated Marketing Communications department to explore meaningful aspects of today’s relationship conversations. Together, the four delve into themes such as singleness, dating culture, marriage, faith, workplace dynamics, and intrapersonal relationships. The broad, universal relevance of these topics coupled with the expertise of the podcast’s contributors creates an insightful experience for listeners.
“Science testifies to the fact that we are relational beings,” explains Haer. “Relationships are at the core of who we are. It's a part of how we bear God's image—a triune being made up of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Knowing that, the podcast is a place where we're talking about all different types of relationships and seeking to bring God glory by living in the way we’re designed to.”
Aside from this foundational relationship series, Pepptalk has begun branching out to examine other timely topics. Borstad and Dolloff have hosted podcasts focused on Middle East studies, academic freedom, and WAVES WORSHIP—Pepperdine’s worship collective. These individual episodes represent the expansive potential of PeppTalk moving forward.
“PeppTalk brings together the intellectual, creative, and spiritual life of Pepperdine to alumni and friends of the University," says Borstad. "Here, you can engage in conversations of personal and global significance across the university from world-renowned professors and global thought leaders who visit campus.”
PeppTalk is available across all audio streaming channels. Listeners are encouraged to subscribe directly to the podcast for live updates regarding new and breaking episodes.
